CLOSING DOWN

Country Workshops is in the process of closing down. Our summer tutorials are fully enrolled. At the CW Store, all tools are now sold out. We still have a full selection of books and DVDs. We are keeping our web site intact, as an archive and resource.

GOOD NEWS DEPARTMENT

Our friends Kenneth and Angela Kortemeier are starting the Maine Coast Craft School. They are offering courses similar to Country Workshops' classes, and their store will offer a similar selection from the same makers.

Private Tutorials with Drew Langsner. Drew will be offering privately arranged tutorials limited to 1-2 students. Possibilities include: carving bowls and spoons, ladderback, and rustic Windsor chair making. 1-5 days. The dates are mutually decided, beginning spring 2018. Drew is also open to teaching at other venues – when the circumstances are particularly interesting. Email if you have a proposal or question. Website: DrewLangsner.com

Workshop Accommodations

Country Workshops tutorial tuition includes your private room and all meals. We have 2 rooms located in the loft just above the workshop, and 2 rooms in our Guest Cabin -- approximately 75 feet from the workshop. Summer temperatures usually vary between 55 and 85 degrees.
Three garden-fresh meals are prepared each day by Louise and served in the Langsner dining room or at the outdoors timber-frame pavilion picnic tables and bake oven. Meals are provided on the evening before classes begin through lunch of the final day. Arrangements can be made for supper and a stay over at the close of class.

Guest Policy

Extra guests are welcome when accommodations are available. The cost is $15/night in a shared room. Guest meal charges are: breakfast $10, lunch $15, supper $20.

Getting Here

Most of our students drive to Country Workshops. If youíre flying, the closest airports are Asheville, NC; Tri-Cities (Bristol), TN; and Knoxville, TN. Airport pickups can often be arranged with other class members who will be driving by one of these airports on their way to Country Workshops.
Plan to arrive between 5 and 7 p.m. on the afternoon preceding your course. This will allow time to become acquainted, move in, and enjoy the evening meal. Daily classes are from 9:15 a.m. to 6:15 p.m. The workshop is available for use after supper, or you may want this time for socializing, or your personal interests.

Internet and Phone Access

Wi-fi for e-mail is available in the workshop and dining room. Our satellite broadband system has very limited download capacity, so streaming and other web-based uses are not appropriate.
Some cell phones will work here; it depends on your provider. We still have a land-line phone which you are welcome to use.
