KENNETH KORTEMIER grew up in Atlanta, Georga. In 1989 he completed a BFA in wood sculpture at the Atlanta College of Art. Kenneth was our summer intern in 1995. He is largely responsible for the excellent black and white photos in The Chairmaker’s Workshop. Kenneth extended his woodworking education at The Carpenter’s Boat Shop in Pemaquid, Maine. In 1997 he traveled to Wales where he apprenticed with chair maker John Brown. (Kenneth is the only person to have worked this closely with the the curmudgeonly and almost legendary chair maker.) From 1996-2002 Kenneth was a group leader and sailing instructor at the Hurricane Island Outward Bound School, Tenants Harbor, Maine. Kenneth returned to The Carpenter’s Boat Shop as an instructor from 2003 - 2013.

We are pleased to welcome Kenneth Kortemeier’s return to Country Workshops where he will be sharing the responsibilities of teaching courses and running the CW Store.
