This course is a condensed introduction to making Windsor chairs. Participants will learn spindle turning techniques, seat carving, and the basic skills of Windsor joinery. The project is a stool with 3 legs and a 2-piece T-stretcher system. Learning how to deal with the many compound angles of a Windsor chair is a major part of the course. Carving the seat incorporates techniques using an inshave, gouges, a drawknife and spokeshave.
Tuition for this 2-day course (which is limited to 4 students) is $400 including materials, meals, lodging and use of specialized Windsor chairmaking tools.
